HARTFORD, CT (October 22, 2024) — On Saturday, November 2, the Connecticut Museum of Culture and History will host its seventh annual Día de Muertos Community Celebration, in partnership with the Spanish Community of Wallingford and visual artist Carlos Hernández Chávez. 

This popular event is free and open to all ages, featuring Mexican folk music and dance performances, arts and crafts activities for children and adults, food for sale, community-made ofrendas on display, and more. “We are grateful that community members are willing to share their cultural and family traditions with us, and that we have the opportunity to join them,” Kate Schramm, Director of Cultural Sustainability at the Connecticut Museum, said. “The Spanish Community of Wallingford co-directs this event with us, and they bring immense talent, infectious enthusiasm, and deep commitment to teaching and sustaining their cultural heritage, which makes the event new and exciting every year.” 

Festivities will run from 11 am to 4 pm, both indoors and outdoors at the Museum. Attendees are highly encouraged to get free tickets in advance. Tickets and more information about the event are available at connecticutmuseum.org/diademuertos.
