Family Program: Celebrate West Indian Culture

Discover the traditions behind West Indian Carnival costumes! These costumes, or Mas (short for masquerade), represent an important and beloved art form in West Indian communities. Explore our new Mas exhibit, featuring Carnival costumes made by Hartford teens. Then come meet some of the talented young people that made the costumes, and learn how to create mas and about some of the ways West Indian Carnival is celebrated!
