Lights, camera, history! Looking for a fun activity for the whole family to do over spring break? Come to the Connecticut Museum of Culture and History and create your own daguerreotype. You will have your portrait taken, with the choice of dressing in period clothing for your portrait. While your image is being printed, you will create your own unique case to keep your daguerreotype in. We’ll use the work from the Hartford studio of African American photographer Augustus Washington for inspiration.
There will be velvet, different colored mats, and other art supplies provided for you to decorate and construct your own signature case for your daguerreotype.
This drop-in program has a morning or afternoon option and is free with museum admission; members always receive free admission. For more information, call (860) 236-5621 x222 or email taylor_mcclure@chs.org.
