POSTPONED: Quilt Discovery Day

Would you like an opportunity to find out how much a family heirloom quilt might be worth and what time period it dates back to? Quilt expert Sue Reich will be on hand to provide a verbal assessment to each registered quilt owner regarding the date range, design, condition, conservation, restoration, and approximate value of the quilt.

Spaces are very limited and pre-registration is required. To sign up, contact Natalie Belanger, Adult Programs Manager, at Natalie_belanger@chs.org or call 860-236-5621 ext. 289. Admission with a quilt assessment is $20 and includes admission to our galleries, including our newest exhibit “Pieces of American History: Connecticut Quilts.” Only one quilt per registrant will be assessed.

If you don’t have a quilt to bring but want to learn more, the public is welcome to view the assessment process! Admission without an assessment appointment is $12 and includes gallery admission. No pre-registration is required for observers!

About Sue Reich:

Sue Reich participated in the Connecticut Quilt Search Project and co-authored their book “Quilts and Quiltmakers Covering Connecticut.” She is an AQS Certified Appraiser and NQA Trained Judge. A quiltmaker since childhood, Sue lectures widely on many aspects of quilt history and has shared her extensive quilt collection nationwide. Besides the Connecticut Quilts book, she authored “Quilting News of Yesteryear: One Thousand Pieces and Counting,” “Quilting News of Yesteryear: Crazy as a Bed-Quilt,” “World War ll Quilts,” “Quilts, Frolicks and Bees: 100 Years of Signature Quilts,” World War I Quilts,” “Quilts: Presidential and Patriotic,” “World War ll Quilts, 2nd Edition,” and “A 50 State Salute: Quilts of Valor.”
