The CMCH Third Thursday concert series celebrates the 25th anniversary of Connecticut Cultural Heritage Arts Program (CCHAP), a statewide initiative that documents diverse cultural traditions and shares the artistic creations and community cultural practices of folk artists living throughout Connecticut.
The August 18 (rain date August 19) concert features Hartford Steel Symphony, the area’s premier Caribbean steel band who play widely across Connecticut and are headliners at the annual Taste of the Caribbean and West Indian Independence Day Parade and Festival. The band performs under the musical direction of Kelvin Griffith who also makes many of their steel pans. Group members number from 6-12 all playing steel pan plus one drum.
All concerts are free. Grounds open at 5:00 pm and concerts will play from 6:00 – 7:30 pm.
Please bring your own camp chairs and picnics.
