We invite CMCH members, CCSU faculty and students, and special guests to join us for the opening reception of The Sole of Connecticut: A History of Connecticut Shoes. Shoes have stories to tell. They reveal early crafting techniques and the enterprise of shoemaking, from materials, methods, artistry, and manufacturers to maintenance and repair. Developed in partnership with Public History graduate students at Central Connecticut State University, this exhibit will explore how shoes have shaped the economy, cultural life, and the very landscape and environment of Connecticut.
Please bring pairs of new socks to donate to a local charity.
RSVP by Friday, October 7 by phone (860) 236-5621 x 238 or by email rsvp@chs.org.
