We invite CMCH members and special guests to join us for the opening reception of Connecticut Dances – A Visual History.
This exhibition, designed and produced by the Connecticut Dance Alliance, brings to life the valuable contribution of dance to the cultural vitality of Connecticut. The exhibition represents a thematically and historically organized portrait of Connecticut’s significant dance heritage of a wide variety of dance forms, important historical dance events, the work of individual dancers, choreographers and companies, and the impact of schools and teachers on the field of dance.
The opening reception will feature of variety of dance performances, including a pop-up Degas ballet studio, improvisational dancers mingling with the crowd, and a special performance inspired by Alwin Nikolais’s famous Noumenon.
The exhibition was made possible through generous funding by The Connecticut Humanities, the Edward C. and Ann T. Roberts Foundation, The Greater Hartford Arts Council, NewAlliance Foundation, and contributors to Connecticut Dance Alliance.
