Connecticut artist Richard Welling used his ink drawings of Hartford to chronicle the changing skyline and to advocate for the preservation of the city he loved. Forty years later, what has changed in Hartford and what remains the same? Using Welling’s drawings as inspiration, Mary Falvey (Hartford Preservation Alliance) will take participants on a walking tour of Hartford, pointing out what has changed and what remains of the Hartford the artist captured in his artwork. Highlighting successful preservation projects and sites of demolition and re-building, the tour will ask how old and new work together in today’s Hartford and how we imagine the city will look in the future.
Tour is Free but Pre-registration encouraged, see below. For information, please call (860) 236-5621 x289 or email Jennifer_steadman@chs.org.
