Family Program: Back to School with ASD

Get excited to go back to school! Read, write, and play as we try out activities and crafts to explore how learning has changed from the 1800s to today. See what school was like for the first students at the American School for the Deaf when the school opened in 1817. Try writing on a slate and see if you could pass a 19^th-century class. Jump back to the present, and use modern-day craft supplies to make a cool chalkboard decoration for your locker or fridge! The Language, Culture, Community: 200 Years of Impact by the American School for the Deaf exhibit will also be open for families to explore before or after the program with our Family Activity Sheets.

This program is free and open to the public, and great for ages 4 and up. Please note that this program will be presented with American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation.
