**We’re sorry, but this event has sold out!**
Join us for a fantastic opportunity to visit the home of Hartford-born artist Frederic Church, one of the leading members of the Hudson River School of landscape painting. Church built a magnificent estate called Olana in Hudson, New York, in the late 19th century. The home’s design was heavily influenced by a trip he and his wife Isabel made to the Middle East.
This year, the Olana State Historic Site has mounted an exhibit of historic costumes and textiles collected by the Churches in the Middle East. These costumes are on view to the public for the first time, and the exhibition highlights how the textiles inspired both his art and the décor of his home.
Our experience at Olana will begin with a tour of the gorgeous historic landscape, which was carefully designed by Church. Then we will tour the main house and the exhibition Costume & Custom: Middle Eastern Threads at Olana. Lunch is included. The bus will depart the CMCH promptly at 7:30 am and return at approximately 5:00 pm.
The trip is $85 for CMCH members and $95 for non-members. Space is limited and pre-registration is required. You can purchase your tickets online here.
The trip is free for subscribers to the CMCH Fashion & Textile Council. Interested in subscribing to collections-based programming events at CMCH? Learn more here!
