Bao Phi will lead a spoken word/poetry workshop for high school students. Phi is a two-time Minnesota Grand Slam champion and a National Poetry Slam finalist. He has performed on numerous stages. His first collection of poetry, Sông I Sing, enjoyed rave reviews. The New York Times states, “In this song of his very American self, every poem Mr. Phi writes rhymes with the truth.” In 2012, The Star Tribune’s inaugural “Best of Minnesota” issue named Bao Phi as Best Spoken Word Artist. His second poetry collection, Thousand Star Hotel, was nominated for a Minnesota Book Award and named by NPR as one of the Best Books of 2017. It was also named as the Best Poetry Book of 2017 by San Francisco State’s Poetry Center. This free workshop is limited to 10 students and pre-registration is required.
