Bring your family, your skates, your helmets and your game face and experience unique community sports like roller derby, skateboarding, double Dutch, and more at this FREE outdoor event for visitors of all ages! Meet and learn from local athletes throughout the day, and take part in activities and crafts!
From 10:00 am – noon, get skating tips and learn about the wild sport of roller derby from HARD (Hartford Area Roller Derby). Bring your skates!
From noon – 2, learn to skateboard with Push to Start Skate Program!
From 2:00 – 4:00 pm, meet Lady Carrie Trimmier-Mccrorey from the Connecticut American Double Dutch League — be ready to jump!
Try your hand at a variety of other sports, including kid-safe archery and lawn bowling, and don’t forget to head inside the Museum to explore our special exhibition, We’re Game! Sports and Community. This event is part of Free First Weekend, which includes free admission to the Museum for all ages! This is a drop-in event; no tickets required. Families are encouraged to bring their own roller skates and protective gear to participate in the demonstrations as they wish.
