We invite CMCH members and special guests to join us for the Opening Reception for From Their Hands and Lands: Artifacts from Connecticut’s Enfield Shakers.
The Shaker Community in Enfield, Connecticut was in existence from 1792 – 1917. The Shakers are known for their craftsmanship, distinctive design style and entrepreneurial agricultural practices. This work enabled the Shakers to pursue their spiritual mission. Relatively few documented artifacts have survived from the Enfield community. The pieces in this exhibit are from the CMCH, the Collection of M. Stephen and Miriam R. Miller, the New Britain Museum of American Art and Hamilton College.
Please let us know if you are able to join us by March 19. Call (860) 236-5621 x238 or email rsvp@chs.org.
